Although the universe is ablaze with more colours than the human eye can detect, we can also learn to see the world in new ways by returning to the roots of the art of photography, to the art of black and white, and other monochromes like sepia (and bi-level). This photo blog celebrates that spectrum of colours ranging from the darkest monochromes to the most brilliant whites, and everything in between.

I called this "Rublev, Flying" because of the three pigeons to the left of the woman. Why that name arose, I don't know. Perhaps because I look for symbolism in unusual places (?). The Rublev icon has an open place for the viewer of the icon, and so these doves flying in a near equilateral triangle (the unity of the Trinity) past our unassuming sitter spoke of daily spiritual activity that we are unaware of. This is what reading Madeleine L'Engle does to you...
